Macqueen's Bustard

Chlamydotis macqueenii

Macqueen's Bustard is a large bird native to the Middle East and Central Asia. It is known for its striking plumage and elaborate courtship displays. The male has a distinctive black and white pattern on the neck and head, while the female is more cryptically colored to blend in with its grassland habitat. These bustards prefer open, arid landscapes such as steppes, semi-deserts, and grasslands. They are often seen foraging for insects, seeds, and small reptiles. Macqueen's Bustard is considered Near Threatened due to habitat loss and hunting pressure in some parts of its range.
