Madagascar Blue Pigeon, Alectroenas madagascariensis, is a pigeon of north, west and east Madagascar, where it breeds in tropical moist lowland and montane forest, including both intact and altered woodland. It is placed in the family Columbidae and is the only recognised form in its group. The bird is linked to the other living blue pigeons of the Comoros and Seychelles. It is found from sea level to 2,000 m, and is often seen in the upper parts of trees and above the canopy.
