Madagascar Cisticola

Cisticola cherina (Smith, A, 1843)

Madagascar Cisticola is a bird of the Malagasy region, breeding on Madagascar, Cosmoledo and Astove in the Aldabra group of the Seychelles, and on the Iles Glorieuses. It belongs to the cisticola family and was described by Smith in 1843. It is a small cisticola with a brown-streaked upper body and pale underparts, and it occurs in more than one colour form, including a browner type and a paler grey one. It uses open country, marshes, scrub, forest edges, clearings and farmed land, and it is resident.
