Asio madagascariensis

The Madagascar Long-eared Owl (Asio madagascariensis) is a medium-sized owl species endemic to Madagascar. It is characterized by prominent ear tufts and a mottled brown and buff plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its forested habitat. This owl is primarily nocturnal and hunts small mammals, birds, and insects. It nests in tree cavities and relies on the dense forests of Madagascar for roosting and breeding. Due to habitat loss and potential predation, the conservation status of the Madagascar Long-eared Owl is currently assessed as 'Vulnerable' by the IUCN.
