This species is known for its solitary foraging behavior, often seen standing still in shallow water waiting to ambush its prey. The Madagascar Pond Heron is a migratory bird, traveling to its breeding grounds during the wet season. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and human disturbance, its population is currently considered stable.
