Madanga

Anthus ruficollis (Rothschild & Hartert, EJO, 1923)

Madanga is a bird of montane Buru in the western Moluccas, where it lives in moist subtropical and tropical forest. It belongs to the family Motacillidae and is placed with the pipits and wagtails. The bird is notable for lacking a white eye-ring, and for having longer toes, wings and tail, with pointed tail feathers. It was first described from specimens taken near Wa Fehat in the western part of the island, and later recorded again at Wakeika. It is confined to a single island and has been affected by logging and other human activity.
