Pelecanoides magellani

The Magellanic Diving-Petrel is a small seabird found in the southern oceans. It has a dark plumage with a white belly and distinctive white wing patches. These birds are highly adapted for life at sea, with webbed feet for swimming and a streamlined body for diving. They feed on small fish and crustaceans, diving beneath the surface to catch their prey. Magellanic Diving-Petrels breed in large colonies on remote islands, nesting in burrows to avoid predation. They are known for their haunting calls and agile flight over the open ocean.
