Magellanic Tapaculo

Magellanic Tapaculo, Scytalopus magellanicus, is a passerine bird of the tapaculo family found in central and southern Chile and western Argentina. It lives in dense vegetation close to the ground in forest and woodland, often near water and commonly among Chusquea bamboo. The bird is wren-like, with a slender black bill, pinkish fairly long legs and a short tail carried upright. Its plumage is dark grey with chestnut on the flanks, undertail and wings, and some birds show a silvery-white crown patch. Juveniles are brown with dark barring.
