Makira Dwarf Kingfisher, Ceyx gentianus, is a kingfisher of the family Alcedinidae found on Makira Island in the Solomon Islands. It lives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. First described by Tristram in 1879, it was once treated as a subspecies of the variable dwarf kingfisher. A later molecular study showed that the island forms had diverged enough to be split, and this bird was raised to full species rank when that group was divided.
