Malabar Barbet, Psilopogon malabaricus, is an Asian barbet of south-west India, breeding in the Western Ghats from around Goa to southern Kerala. It lives in moist evergreen forest, mostly below 1200 m, and also uses coffee estates. It is best recognised by its crimson face and throat, which separate it from the coppersmith barbet. Its call is similar to that species’ but delivered more quickly. It was once treated as part of the crimson-fronted barbet.
