Malagasy White-eye

Zosterops maderaspatanus (Linnaeus, 1766)

Malagasy White-eye, Zosterops maderaspatanus, is a passerine in the white-eye family that breeds in Madagascar, the Glorioso Islands, Europa Island, Aldabra, Cosmoledo Atoll and Astove Island. It is a bird of woodland and several forest types, including dry forest, moist lowland forest, mangrove and moist montane forest. A notable feature is its incomplete white eye-ring, broken at the front of the reddish-brown eye. It was described by Linnaeus in 1766 and is placed in the genus Zosterops.
