Mangrove Fantail

Rhipidura brachyrhyncha

The Mangrove Fantail (Rhipidura brachyrhyncha) is a small passerine bird found in the mangrove forests of Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive fan-shaped tail and agile, acrobatic flight. This species has a striking black and white plumage, with a black head and upperparts, and a white throat and underparts. It feeds on insects and small invertebrates by making quick sallies from perches within the dense mangrove foliage. The Mangrove Fantail is highly adapted to its mangrove habitat, using its long tail to navigate through the tangled branches. Despite facing habitat loss and degradation, the population of this species is currently considered stable.
