Camarhynchus heliobates
The Mangrove Finch, scientifically known as Camarhynchus heliobates, is a small, critically endangered bird species endemic to the Galápagos Islands. It is known for its distinctive curved beak and olive-brown plumage. This species is highly specialized, feeding on insects and spiders found in the mangrove forests. Unfortunately, the destruction of its habitat due to human activities and the introduction of invasive species have led to a significant decline in its population. Conservation efforts are underway to protect the remaining individuals and restore their habitat.
