Mangrove Vireo

Vireo sclateri

The Mangrove Vireo (Vireo sclateri) is a small songbird found in the mangrove forests of Central America. It has a distinctive olive-green back, pale underparts, and a gray head with a striking white eyebrow. This species is known for its melodious and repetitive song, often heard echoing through the dense mangrove thickets. Mangrove Vireos are primarily insectivorous, foraging for insects and spiders among the foliage and branches. They are generally solitary or found in pairs, and are known for their agile and acrobatic movements as they navigate through the tangled mangrove roots. Despite their specific habitat requirements, Mangrove Vireos are adaptable and can thrive in disturbed mangrove areas.
