Manilla Swiftlet

Caprimulgus manillensis

The Manilla Swiftlet is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Philippines. It is known for its distinctive rapid flight and its ability to navigate through dark caves using echolocation. This species has a short, slightly forked tail and a dark plumage, which aids in camouflage during its nocturnal foraging. Manilla Swiftlets are colonial nesters, building their cup-shaped nests on the walls of caves using saliva. They are highly social birds, often seen in large flocks around their nesting sites.
