Many-spotted Hummingbird, Taphrospilus hypostictus, is a hummingbird of the Andes and adjacent south-western Brazil, breeding from Ecuador through Bolivia and into sw Brazil. It is the only species in its genus and has no subspecies. The bird has a slightly downcurved black bill, and adults show green to coppery bronze upperparts with white underparts marked by dense green spotting, apart from the central belly. Its tail is blue-green with dusky grey tips, and young birds show buff fringes on the head feathers.
