Manyar Weaver

Ploceus manyar

The Manyar Weaver, scientifically known as Ploceus manyar, is a small passerine bird native to Southeast Asia. This species is known for its distinctive yellow crown and olive-green upperparts, with a bright yellow underbelly. The male Manyar Weaver is characterized by its black face mask and throat, while the female has a more subdued appearance. These birds are highly social and often form large, noisy flocks, especially during the breeding season. They are skilled weavers, constructing intricate, gourd-shaped nests from grass and palm leaves. The Manyar Weaver is commonly found in open woodlands, grasslands, and agricultural areas, where it forages for seeds and insects. While its population is currently stable, habitat loss poses a potential threat to this species.
