Maracaibo Tody-Flycatcher

Maracaibo Tody-Flycatcher, Todirostrum viridanum, is a passerine found in north-west Venezuela, where it is confined to coastal areas. It was first described in 1927. This bird belongs to the tyrant flycatcher family and is the only member of its type. It lives mainly in semi-arid and arid scrub and woodland, especially where Acacia, Cercidium, Cardon and Opuntia grow, and it also occurs in some deciduous and gallery forest. Its range runs from the mouth of Lake Maracaibo eastwards through northern Falcón to near Puerto Píritu, including the Paraguaná Peninsula.
