Maranon Pigeon, Patagioenas oenops, is a pigeon of Ecuador and Peru in South America, breeding in the Maranon region from extreme south-eastern Ecuador into Peru as far as La Libertad. It belongs to the family Columbidae and was described by Salvin in 1895. The bird is also known as Peruvian pigeon or Salvin’s pigeon. It is a monotypic species and is closely allied to the red-billed pigeon and the plain pigeon, with the three sometimes treated as a superspecies. It moves seasonally between river-edge forest and drier forest on higher ground.
