Marbled Godwit

Limosa fedoa

The Marbled Godwit is a large shorebird with a long, slightly upturned bill, mottled brown and cinnamon plumage, and a distinctive cinnamon-colored underwing. During the breeding season, they can be found in the prairies and grasslands of North America, where they build their nests on the ground. Outside of the breeding season, they migrate to coastal areas, mudflats, and estuaries. They use their long bills to probe the mud for invertebrates and small crustaceans. Marbled Godwits are known for their distinctive, melodious calls and their impressive long-distance migrations.
