Markham's Storm Petrel is a small seabird that belongs to the family Hydrobatidae. It is predominantly black with a white rump and a distinctive white patch on the underwing. This species is known for its graceful flight and its ability to forage over the open ocean. Markham's Storm Petrel breeds in colonies on remote islands, often nesting in burrows or rock crevices. They are nocturnal at the breeding sites, returning to the colonies under the cover of darkness. Their diet consists mainly of small fish and squid. This species is highly adapted to a life at sea, spending most of its life on the wing, only returning to land to breed.
