Sporophila palustris (Barrows, 1883)

Marsh Seedeater, Sporophila palustris, is a bird of southern South America in the tanager family. It breeds in wet grasslands and marshes in north-eastern Argentina, Uruguay and southern Brazil, and moves to south-eastern Brazil outside the breeding season. The species is sexually dichromatic. Males show a bright white throat, a grey crown and a chestnut belly, while females are like other brown female seedeaters. It was described by Barrows in 1883.
