Masked Finch

Poephila personata

The Masked Finch (Poephila personata) is a small, seed-eating bird native to Australia. It is characterized by its black face mask, white throat, and brownish-grey plumage. These finches are commonly found in open grassy woodlands, savannas, and scrublands, often in close proximity to water sources. They are social birds and often form small flocks. The Masked Finch primarily feeds on grass seeds and insects. They build dome-shaped nests from grass and twigs in low shrubs or grass tussocks. This species is not currently considered at risk and is widely distributed throughout its range.
