The Masked Lapwing, also known as the Spur-winged Plover, is a medium-sized shorebird found in Australia, New Zealand, and New Guinea. It is easily recognized by its black and white plumage, distinctive yellow facial wattles, and a sharp spur on the wrist of each wing. These birds are commonly found in open grasslands, wetlands, and urban areas, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates. Masked Lapwings are known for their loud, distinctive calls and their bold behavior, often defending their nesting territory vigorously. They are adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, from coastal areas to inland fields.
