Masked Yellowthroat

Geothlypis aequinoctialis

The Masked Yellowthroat is a small, neotropical migratory bird found in wetlands and marshy areas of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive black mask across the eyes and bright yellow throat and breast. The upperparts are olive-green with a yellowish tinge, and the underparts are bright yellow. These birds are often found skulking in dense vegetation, foraging for insects and small invertebrates. They are known for their loud, repetitive song, often heard at dawn and dusk. The Masked Yellowthroat is a common species within its range, but faces threats from habitat loss and degradation.
