Maui Parrotbill

The Maui Parrotbill, scientifically known as Psittirostra psittacea, is a small, critically endangered bird species endemic to the island of Maui in Hawaii. It is characterized by its stout bill and greenish-yellow plumage. This species primarily inhabits native montane wet forests, foraging for insects and nectar in the canopy and understory. Due to habitat loss and predation by introduced species, the Maui Parrotbill faces severe threats to its survival. Conservation efforts are focused on protecting its remaining habitat and controlling invasive species. The IUCN Red List classifies the Maui Parrotbill as Endangered.
