Maupiti Monarch

Maupiti Monarch, Pomarea maupitiensis, is a bird of the Society Islands in Pacific Ocean: Maupiti (w Society Is., e Polynesia). It belongs to the monarchs and is the only form recorded from that island. The species was described by Garnot in 1829. It was once treated as the same species as the Tahiti monarch, but the two were separated in 2012. The name now used for it replaced an earlier one that was found to belong to another bird.
