Mauritius Scops Owl, Otus sauzieri, was an extinct owl of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, within the Mascarenes. It was first described by Newton and Gadow in 1893. The bird was notable for its large build among scops owls, with long legs, short wings and featherless tarsi. It also had brown ear-tufts, brown upperparts, and white eyebrows and bristles that were unlike those of other owls in the region. Contemporary accounts and subfossils show that it was once present on the island before it disappeared.
