McLeannan's Antpitta

Phaenostictus mcleannani

McLeannan's Antpitta is a small, secretive bird species found in the cloud forests of the Andes in South America. It is known for its distinctive song and elusive nature, often remaining hidden in the undergrowth. This species is primarily insectivorous, foraging on the forest floor for invertebrates. It has a mottled brown and rufous plumage, providing excellent camouflage among the leaf litter. Due to its elusive behavior and remote habitat, it is rarely seen by humans. McLeannan's Antpitta faces threats from habitat loss and degradation due to deforestation and human encroachment.
