Meadow Bunting

Emberiza cioides

The Meadow Bunting (Emberiza cioides) is a small passerine bird found in East Asia. It is characterized by its streaked brown plumage with a distinctive black throat patch in males. This species is known for its melodious song, often heard in open grasslands and agricultural fields during the breeding season. Meadow Buntings are primarily seed-eaters, foraging on the ground for grass seeds and insects. They are known for their acrobatic flight displays during courtship. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and agricultural intensification, the Meadow Bunting populations are currently stable.
