Meek's Lorikeet

Vini meeki (Rothschild & Hartert, EJO, 1901)

Meek's Lorikeet, Vini meeki, is a parrot of the Psittaculidae family found in Bougainville and the Solomon Islands, with its breeding range extending through montane Bougainville to Malaita and into the northern Solomon Islands, apart from low-lying islands. It lives in moist lowland forest and moist montane forest in subtropical or tropical settings. The species was once placed in Charmosyna, but a 2020 molecular study led to its transfer to Vini.
