Motacillidae — Wagtails, Pipits

Mekong Wagtail, Motacilla samveasnae, is a bird of the Mekong valley in Cambodia and Laos, with breeding range in north-east Cambodia, south Laos and south-east Thailand. It belongs to the Motacillidae family and was described in 2001. It is a black and white wagtail, and its face and voice set it apart from other black and white wagtails in south-east Asia. It is similar in appearance to the African pied wagtail, though their ranges do not meet. It lives beside fast-flowing rivers in rocky places that flood seasonally.
