Meller's Duck

Meller's Duck (Anas melleri) is a medium-sized waterfowl species found in eastern Africa. It has a distinctive appearance with a dark brown body, a pale blue bill, and a white eye ring. Males and females have similar plumage, with the male being slightly larger. This species is known for its preference for densely vegetated wetlands, where it feeds on aquatic plants, invertebrates, and small fish. Meller's Ducks are often observed in pairs or small groups and are known for their secretive behavior. While not currently considered threatened, the destruction and degradation of its wetland habitats pose a potential risk to its future survival.
