Mentawai Malkoha, Phaenicophaeus oeneicaudus, is a cuckoo of the Mentawai Islands west of Sumatra, where it breeds in the Oriental Region. It was first described in 1855 by Jules and Édouard Verreaux. The bird is restricted to those islands and was once treated as part of the chestnut-breasted malkoha. Its present species status was later recognised after differences in form were noted. The name Phaenicophaeus oeneicaudus remains the scientific name used for this island bird.
