Merida Tapaculo, Scytalopus meridanus, is a bird of the tapaculo family found in north-west Venezuela. It was described by Hellmayr in 1922 and lives in the Andes there, with the nominate form in Mérida and Táchira and the Lara form farther north in Lara and Trujillo. It uses the lower growth and margins of moist mountain forest, and also occurs in Chusquea bamboo, though not as a preferred habitat. The two forms are recognised as subspecies, and the species was once treated as part of brown-rumped tapaculo.
