Mexican Chickadee

Poecile sclateri (Kleinschmidt, 1897)

Mexican Chickadee, Poecile sclateri, is a passerine of the tit family that breeds in south-west USA and Mexico. It is a resident of pine, pine-oak and spruce-fir forest, especially in the mountains, and in the United States it is mainly found in coniferous woodland at higher elevations during the breeding season. A notable feature is its black throat and upper breast, which extend farther down than in other chickadees. The species was named by Kleinschmidt in 1897.
