This species is known for its unique breeding behavior, as it relies on geothermal heat to incubate its eggs rather than using body heat. The Megapode is a medium-sized bird with a distinctive brown plumage and a prominent red facial patch. It forages on the forest floor for insects, seeds, and fallen fruits. Due to habitat loss and predation, the Micronesian Megapode faces conservation challenges.
