Acrocephalus familiaris (Rothschild, 1892)

Millerbird, Acrocephalus familiaris, is a passerine in the Acrocephalidae that lives in the Hawaiian Islands. It is confined to the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, with the surviving race on Nīhoa and a reintroduced population on Laysan. The nominate Laysan form disappeared between 1916 and 1923. It is the only Old World warbler to have reached Hawaiʻi, and there is no fossil evidence for a wider range. The species forms lasting pair bonds, holds territories for several years, and breeds from January to September depending on food availability. It favours dense, low vegetation and is usually difficult to observe.
