Loriculus aurantiifrons
The Mindanao Lorikeet (Loriculus aurantiifrons) is a small parrot species native to the Philippines, particularly on the islands of Mindanao and Basilan. These colorful birds are known for their vibrant plumage, which includes shades of green, red, and yellow. They have a distinctive red forehead and a green body, with red markings on the wings. Mindanao Lorikeets are often found in forested areas, including both primary and secondary forests, as well as in agricultural areas and wooded gardens. They primarily feed on nectar, fruit, and pollen. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the conservation status of the Mindanao Lorikeet is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
