Mindoro Imperial Pigeon

Ducula mindorensis

The Mindoro Imperial Pigeon is a large, forest-dwelling pigeon species endemic to the Philippines. It has a striking appearance, with a predominantly white body, contrasting with deep purple and green iridescence on its wings and back. This species is known for its distinct call, a series of deep, resonant coos. Mindoro Imperial Pigeons are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits found within their forest habitat. They play a vital role in seed dispersal and contribute to the overall health of the forest ecosystem. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and hunting, conservation efforts are underway to protect their remaining habitats.
