Modest Tiger Parrot

Psittacella modesta

The Modest Tiger Parrot (Psittacella modesta) is a small, colorful parrot species found in the montane forests of New Guinea. It has a predominantly green plumage with a striking red belly and blue and yellow markings on its wings. These parrots are known for their agile flight and distinctive calls, often seen in small flocks foraging for fruits, seeds, and insects in the forest canopy. They are an important part of the ecosystem as seed dispersers and play a role in pollination. Despite their vibrant appearance, they are often inconspicuous in their dense forest habitat.
