Moheli Scops Owl, Otus moheliensis, is an owl of montane Mohéli in the western Comoros, where it is confined to the island’s central high ground. It was described by Lafontaine & Moulaert in 1998. The bird is known in two colour forms: one with reddish-brown plumage and faint dark marking, the other darker brown with stronger streaking and vermiculation. Both forms have yellow-green eyes, grey legs and a black bill. It lives in dense, humid forest with many epiphytes on the upper slopes and ridge top.
