Moluccan Eclectus, Eclectus roratus, is a parrot that breeds in the northern and central Moluccas in Australasia. It is notable for the marked difference between the sexes in plumage, with the male mainly bright emerald green and the female mainly bright red with purple-blue. Early European ornithologists even took the two sexes to be separate species. Large populations still survive, though some island groups are much scarcer. Its feathers are also used as ornaments by native people in New Guinea.
