Moluccan Friarbird

Lichmera squamata

The Moluccan Friarbird is a medium-sized honeyeater found in the Moluccan islands of Indonesia. It has a distinctive appearance with a black head, white throat, and mottled brown and yellowish plumage. This bird is known for its loud and varied calls, often heard in the forest canopy as it forages for nectar, fruits, and insects. The Moluccan Friarbird plays an important role in pollination and seed dispersal within its habitat. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential future concerns for this species.
