Moluccan kingfisher

Todiramphus diops

The Moluccan kingfisher (Todiramphus diops) is a striking bird with a vibrant blue and white plumage, a large head, and a strong bill. This species is native to the islands of Halmahera and Bacan in Indonesia. It inhabits primary and secondary forests, often found near streams or in coastal areas. The Moluccan kingfisher primarily feeds on small reptiles, insects, and small mammals. Due to habitat loss and potential predation by invasive species, the population of this kingfisher is declining. Conservation efforts are underway to protect its remaining habitat and ensure its survival.
