This kingfisher is known for its distinctive call and its remarkable ability to dive from perches to catch small fish and aquatic invertebrates. The Moluccan kingfisher is highly territorial and forms monogamous pairs. Unfortunately, habitat loss and fragmentation due to deforestation and human activities pose significant threats to its population.
