Moluccan Starling

Aplonis brunneicapillus

The Moluccan Starling (Aplonis brunneicapillus) is a medium-sized bird native to the Moluccan Islands in Indonesia. It has a glossy black plumage with a distinctive iridescent sheen, and a pale yellow eye-ring. These social birds are often found in small flocks and are known for their melodious calls and mimicry abilities. They inhabit a variety of forested habitats including primary and secondary forests, as well as cultivated areas. The Moluccan Starling is an omnivorous species, feeding on fruits, insects, and nectar. While currently not assessed by the IUCN, the population trend of this species is believed to be stable.
