Aplonis cinerascens

The Moluccan Starling (Aplonis cinerascens) is a medium-sized passerine bird native to the Moluccan Islands in Indonesia. It is characterized by its striking glossy black plumage and bright yellow eye-ring. These social birds are often found in small flocks, foraging for fruits, insects, and nectar in forested areas and cultivated lands. They are known for their melodious and varied vocalizations, often mimicking the calls of other bird species. The Moluccan Starling is considered Near Threatened due to habitat loss and trapping for the cage bird trade.
