Mongolian Lark

Anarhynchus mongolus

The Mongolian Lark (Anarhynchus mongolus) is a small passerine bird found in the steppes and semi-deserts of Mongolia and northern China. It is known for its melodious song and distinctive aerial displays during courtship. The Mongolian Lark is well-adapted to its arid habitat, with a cryptic plumage that provides camouflage against the sandy soil. It forages for seeds and insects on the ground, using its long hind claws to scratch the surface. Despite its relatively widespread distribution, the species faces threats from habitat loss and degradation due to overgrazing and agricultural expansion.
