Monte Yellow Finch, Sicalis mendozae, is a bird of the Thraupidae family that breeds in western Argentina. It is found in the Monte Desert in Catamarca Province, and its range is linked to high-altitude jungle and tropical mountain habitat. In the desert it is often associated with creosote, Larrea cuneifolia, a shrub with yellow or white flowers, where it may be seen perched. During winter it feeds mainly on seeds.
